Long distance out for NTS customers

Customers with NTS Communications, a long-distance telephone provider headquartered in Lubbock, have been without service since at least Aug. 15 and company officials are not sure when it may be restored.

A company employee who said his name is Phillip but declined to provide a last name, said workers are trying to “reroute the circuitry” in efforts to replace old equipment.

The employee said he did not know how many customers are affected by the outage in eastern New Mexico.

NTS Communications’ website reports it has infrastructure in Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Mississippi.

In addition to local and long-distance telephone service, it provides Internet access and digital video services.
