Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Reader reaction — July 3

We asked our Facebook followers on Monday, “ With Draggin' Main concluded for a third year, what did you like about it? What would you like to see for the fourth annual event?”

• Joe Gonzalez: I personally enjoyed it very much. My kids loved it. It was a great event to bring Clovis together. With the people drinking beer hiding it down from the police, that is something we can not control. They are going to drink at their houses with their kids or in their cars on Prince any other time too. To my knowledge there wasn't any accidents or fights on Saturday night. Great job to Gene Porter for the Draggin' Main event. My only complaint is having to drive all the way to 21st and back down to Main Street. I really enjoyed grilling and spending time with my friends and family. I Hope it's as good or better next year.

• Randogg Lozano: No complaints. Gene Porter, awesome work in making it a drama free night in Clovis. Felt good seeing all races united as one. Let’s keep the positive thing going and as for what you cannot control in due time they will figure it out. I’m here for you if you need anything brother. See ya’ll next year gene. Hopefully the cadi will have hydraulics.

• Alicia Emily: I've only lived in Clovis for a little while and this was my first time attending, I had a good time and saw some awesome rides. There were some reckless people but the police worked their butts trying to keep control and warning and reminding others. I think it's a great event, needs to be better regulated in some areas especially when it comes to the line of cars cruising but overall it was a fun experience.

• Valentino Martinez: I enjoyed it but do agree the only flaw was needed better control at the turn around, older cars did over heat from idle time, but all in all was a great night with less drama then in the past. Thank you to those who put this together.

• Lucio Marin: The only complaint I had was the way they had blocked off streets made it very congested and a very slow cruise n guys like me with there old cars were overheating. Other than that looking forward to next year.

• David Salazar: A car stuffing contest for the drive in night. Who can get the most people in their vehicle.

• Toni Merchant: I thank its something great for Clovis. We had a lot of fun hope it keeps going. The movie was great to.

• Roy Edwards: I liked it just because seeing some of the rides brought back memories of some old friends at different points in my life.

• Linda Cordova: It was great can’t wait to get my oldie in next year.

• Ryon Blacklock: Not so many road blocks.

• Nick Baglien: Loved it.

• Siam Romi: Well I’m living in Cali and everyone was posting video and photos I sure wish I was there. From what I saw the people I knew and there are a lot were having a great time.
