Render: Night club killer's motivation clear

Rev. Terry Jones took over as senior pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center, an unaffiliated Christian denomination, in 2004.

At that time, Dove World had approximately 100 members; at last count, it was said to have less than 50 members who actually attended services.

Jones received national attention in 2012 when he burned a Quran in Gainesville, Florida. He had burned several Muslim holy books and news reports claim this incited violence in Afghanistan that resulted in at least 12 deaths.

Jones has received countless death threats and Hezbollah has a $2.4 million bounty on his head, according to the FBI.

Although Jones was contacted by U.S. officials in the military, law enforcement and legal communities requesting that he not continue with these activities, they could not prevail on him to stop.

Hezbollah did not concern itself with how Rev. Jones had arrived at this point in his life. Whether he had been self-radicalized or whether he had a bad experience with a member of the Muslim community made no difference.

Hezbollah just assumed he was an agent of the Great Satan and issued the fatwa.

In 2013, Jones decided to publicly burn almost 3,000 Qurans at a park in Polk County, Florida. Sheriff’s deputies arrested him before he could carry out this plan.

Had Jones called a TV station and screamed, “Death to the prophet” on the air, the U.S. Department of Justice would still be trying to determine his precise motivations.

Lacking the vast resources and in-depth legal training available to the U.S. attorney general, the Polk County deputies were left to ponder the fact that Jones had 2,998 books, soaked in kerosene and said he was on his way to burn them.

Although the deputies involved had not been trained as detectives they chose to take Jones at his word and chose to believe that he was, indeed, on his way to burn the Qurans in question.

It appears that nobody believes Omar Mateen.

After Orlando, Attorney General Loretta Lynch stated to the Lesbian Gay Bi and Trans (LGBT) community, “I cannot tell you definitively that we will ever narrow it down to one motivation.”

The president reiterated that we had yet to discern “the precise motivations of the killer,” in spite of the fact that all sane observers knew the killer had called 911 to swear his allegiance to ISIS while he was killing people.

Loretta Lynch, call the Polk County sheriff’s office ASAP.
