The Clovis High boys golf team, in the start of a busy stretch, finished second at the Brandon Branch Invite at Hobbs.
The host Eagles won both the boys and girls events, taking the boys by 314 — 22 shots better than Clovis’ 336, and edged Artesia by a single stroke in girls competition at 381.
Hobbs had the top two golfers in Brett Hudson (74) and Tyler Cox (78).
Jake Foster and Christian Fontanilla each shot 83 for the Wildcats. Kolt Bennett (84), David Maldonado (86) and Josh Gutierrez (87) weren’t far behind.
The Wildcats already have their three necessary qualifying legs for the state meet.
Clovis is in action again Wednesday at the Black/Murphy Invite in Lovington and Thursday at Roswell’s Last Chance Open.
Texico finished fourth in the girls competition at 400, with Hannah Rucker leading the way at 92. Kalley Tharp (95), Kaylee Muse (100) and Kylie Pieratt (113) rounded out the Wolverine scores.
