ATLANTA — The Eastern New Mexico University baseball team completed a weekend romp through Georgia on Sunday with a 19-4 rout of Selma (Ala.) University.
Coming off shutout wins over Clark Atlanta on Friday and Lane (Tenn.) on Saturday, the Greyhounds (5-1) finished the weekend with a 46-4 scoring advantage over their opponents. All three games ended after seven innings on the 10-run rule.
Junior third baseman Daniel Ward, who belted a school record-tying three home runs in Saturday’s 11-0 win over Lane, blasted a three-run shot in a six-run first on Sunday. He later added a double.
The Hound added three more runs in the second and seven in the third for a 16-1 cushion. Junior left-hander J’Daylin Jackson (1-0) worked three innings for the win while juniors Chris Miranda-Carr and Scott Klein finished, with Klein throwing 1 1/3 perfect innings.
ENMU had 16 hits off two Bulldogs pitchers, with junior left fielder Mike McNicholl going 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs while sophomore shortstop Tregra Williams and senior designated hitter Jacob Cluff each belted a three-run home run.
All told, nine players had at least one run scored, nine had at least one hit and nine had at least one RBI. Through its first six games, ENMU has 34 extra-base hits, including 10 home runs.
Selma managed just four hits. Second baseman Arniel Rivera drove in three runs with a bases-loaded walk and a two-run single.
The Hounds will be on the other side of the country this weekend, visiting San Diego for a three-game series against Point Loma Nazarene beginning with a 3 p.m. (MST) start on Thursday.
