New Mexico Military at Portales

• When: 7 p.m. today at the Ram Athletic Center

• Records: NMMI 5-10 (0-1 District 4-4A), Portales 11-9 (1-0)

• Last season: Portales easily swept the two district games from the Colts, winning 76-37 at Roswell and 66-38 at the RAC.

• Last time out: Both teams opened district play last weekend, the Colts losing at East Mountain 63-42 on Saturday while the Rams won at Ruidoso 90-71 on Friday.

• Of note: Portales is 1-6 this season in true road games, but 10-3 in home or neutral contests, including 6-1 at the RAC. Meantime, the Colts are 0-6 in road outings. … Senior Gs Carlos Xibilie (13.0 ppg) and Peter DeGroot (12.2 ppg) lead NMMI in scoring and have combined for 59 3-point baskets. … The Rams have finished their non-district schedule. They return to action on Friday at East Mountain.

Portales at Frenship

• Records: Portales 16-3, Frenship 17-13

• Last meeting: Feb. 13, 2015, the Lady Rams beat Frenship 48-40 at the RAC.

• Last time out: Both teams played on Friday. The Lady Tigers lost at Amarillo Tascosa 72-64 while PHS opened District 4-4A play with a 68-25 rout at Ruidoso.

• Of note: The Lady Tigers, a Class 6A school, are 4-4 in road games, 6-6 on neutral courts and 7-3 at home this season. … Frenship has had winning streaks of three, five and six games, and losing streaks of three and four. … Senior F Kambrey Blakey led a balanced attack with 12 points for the Lady Rams in last year’s matchup. … Of its four remaining regular-season games, Portales has only one more outside the district — Feb. 16 at home against Lubbock Christian.
