It’s nearly time to say goodbye to 2015 and bring in 2016 with sparkle. Your outfit, mood and surroundings should pop when you’re bringing in the new year. You want to get dazzled up for the fun-filled celebrations you have lined up and because you made it through another year. The countdown starts now to get prepared. Whether you're planning a night out with friends and family or staying home to celebrate, here are some simple and cute outfit ideas and activities that will make your New Year's celebration shine bright:

• Decorations. They are important. Glitter anyone? Even if you're having a low-key gathering you want your surroundings to match the mood and when you're celebrating you have to have fun foods, balloons and things that sparkle. Fun banners and balloons doused in glitter set the tone.

• Outfit idea 1: Sequin leggings. Sequin shorts. Sequin blazer. Whichever piece you choose to add some sparkle, remember you only need one. Pair your sequined garment with something black, like a knitted sweater, black pumps and pantyhose.

• Outfit idea 2: Graphic tee and heels. You can never go wrong with a graphic tee paired with your favorite party skirt or pants.

• Outfit idea for him: A great casual look for the men this year is a nice pair of slim jeans — not skinny but slim fit — paired with a soft cardigan to go over a nice button up shirt and tie. The key to pulling this look off is color pairing and fit. If you don't want to do a cardigan, then try a classic men’s vest instead.

• Group activities: There are so many year in review games that you can find online to add a little fun and laughter and a great icebreaker in group settings.

• Music. You can listen to the year's greatest hits and reminisce on your most memorable moments of 2015.

I hope some of these simple ideas gives you a little incentive to celebrate the holiday in style. There are only a few times a year when you get to play dress-up for a holiday party, so why not take this opportunity to show off your great sense of style at your New Year's Eve celebration.
