Empty stocking fund profile — Dec. 16

A Clovis man with a young daughter recently went to the Salvation Army to ask for assistance.

“After speaking with him at length, it was revealed the little girl was born while her mom was incarcerated,” said Salvation Army Lt. Kelly Berggren.

“The little girl then went missing on the streets of Phoenix before being reunited with her father.”

The man and his daughter are among about two dozen families who have qualified to receive holiday help from the Empty Stocking Fund, sponsored by the Clovis News Journal and Salvation Army.

“Dad is trying to get his life together and this delightful little child deserves a Merry Christmas,” Berggren said.

The Empty Stocking Fund helps low-income families with toys, food and clothing.

Donations can be made at the Salvation Army, 317 E. Second St., or at the CNJ, 521 Pile St., in Clovis.
