Clovis and Portales retailers are gearing up for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday shoppers.

But some stores are even going a step further and offering sales on Thanksgiving Day.

The North Plains Mall in Clovis will be open today, as well as Clovis and Portales Wal-Marts.

Most locally owned stores aren’t planning any Thanksgiving Day sales, but they will participating in Black Friday and Small Business Saturday.

Brandi Windham, owner of MainStreet Treasures in downtown Clovis, said her store filled with a variety of antiques and vintage items, decor, glassware, swords and knives, hand-crafted items and more has had its good years and bad years with Black Friday shopping.

She said most booths in the store will be offering anywhere from 10 percent off to 50 percent off regular prices.

“That could change before Friday and Saturday,” she said. “We are doing more for Small Business Saturday than we are doing for Friday. But we’re going to start on Friday, weather permitting.”

Tressie Stroud, owner of Nowhere Else on Main Street in Portales, which carries a variety of decor and knick-knacks, said she is planning on running specials on Friday, but she is still deciding on the details of some of the specials.

The four department stores in the Clovis mall with their own entrances — Sears, Bealls, JCPenney and Dillards — will be running long hours for the weekend shopping.

Dillards will be closed on Thanksgiving, with Friday hours from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Bealls is open today from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and will open on Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

JCPenney will be open today from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Sears is open from 6 p.m. today to 2 a.m. Friday and will reopen at 5 a.m. Friday until 10 p.m.

Clovis’ Wal-Mart is open regular hours — 6 a.m. to midnight — today and Friday.

The Portales Walmart will be open 24 hours, both today and Friday.
