Comb’s Country Cookin’ in Portales was giving away free Coke, fries and gravy to lucky fans attending the game.

1965: Sonia Meeks, 9, who lived at 1006 Ross in Clovis, produced the year’s first letter to Santa Claus.

All she wanted was a “baby first-step.”

“I shall play with it all the time if I can have it,” she promised. “My mother said if I get it that she would make a coat, pajamas and some shoes and socks for it ... I will take good care of her.”
