Woman hospitalized in crash

Staff report

A car crash Monday morning put a Clovis woman in a Lubbock hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Curry County Undersheriff Mike Reeves.

Reeves said 18-year-old Eva Romero was driving southbound on State Highway 467 overpass when she crossed the centerline and hit a semi-tractor trailer head-on.

The semi-tractor trailer's driver, Eric G. Hall, 47, was driving northbound when Romero's 1999 Buick crossed the line, attempted to “brake and take evasive action,” but wasn't able to avoid hitting Romero's car, Reeves said. Hall was not injured.

According to Reeves, Romero sustained multiple injuries and was airlifted to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

Reeves said Romero was in stable condition as of Wednesday afternoon.

The crash is still under investigation and no charges were filed as of Wednesday, Reeves added.
