Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Notebook — Oct. 24

• If you want to give some input to the City of Clovis on what you think is a priority for the city, Tuesday morning just might be your chance. City officials are meeting at 8 a.m. at Clovis City Hall on 321 N. Connelly Street.

• Calling all airmen, come down to the Eastern New Mexico University football game today at 1 p.m. at Greyhound Stadium for Cannon Appreciation Day. Airmen and their dependents will be admitted free, and the first 200 military personnel at the gate will receive a free T-shirt. Maybe the early bird does catch the worm!

• If you haven’t heard, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and as such there are a few activities you can participate in today. A Pink Pumpkin Party is being hosted by the Clovis Breast Feeding Support Group at Windy Plains from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and the Clovis Wildcat Girls Volleyball team will be having two games at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. at Rock Staubus Gymnasium. T-shirts will also be sold at the game.

• “She’s got electric boots, a mohair suit, you know I read it in a magazine oh, Ba-Ba-Ba-Bennie and the Jetssssss...” — Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets”
