ENMU senior Melissa Cornero shoots on goal as Midwestern State’s Katie Huff tries to defend during the second half of Sunday’s Lone Star Conference women’s soccer match at the ENMU pitch. MSU posted a 1-0 victory over the Greyhounds.
The Mustangs (7-3-3, 3-2-2 LSC) outshot ENMU 22-5 overall and 12-2 on goal for the match, but managed only the one goal.
It’s the ninth time this season the Greyhounds (4-10-1, 0-7-0) have given up no more than one goal in a match. They are 4-5 in those contests, and haven’t allowed more than two goals in any outing this season.
The goal came in front of the ENMU net in a scramble in which MSU’s Imani Morlock and Morgan Hannon fired on goal and were turned away by Hounds sophomore Karissa Stinson, but Williamson got the carom off the second attempt and punched it into the back of the net.
Stinson finished with 10 saves in the contest. MSU’s Courtney Burnette made a pair of saves en route to her seventh shutout of the season.
ENMU has three matches remaining, all on the road and in conference play. The Hounds visit Texas Woman’s for a 6 p.m. start on Friday at Denton, Texas.
