Rock tonight

Lou Gramm takes the stage tonight for the climax of the annual Clovis Music Festival.

Words you’re likely to hear if you go:

“I’ve seen it before. It happens all the time. You’re closing the door. You leave the world behind.”

If you know what comes next, you’re no foreigner to rock history.

Did you know

New Mexico’s Department of Public Safety “did not investigate a single fatal crash” during the Labor Day weekend, according to a DPS news release.

DPS did investigate 39 non-fatal crashes, issued 230 seatbelt citations, and issued 4,313 citations overall from noon on Sept. 4 to midnight Sept. 7, the news release said.

Glory days

Forty-five years ago this weekend, Portales football fans were celebrating a 43-6 thrashing of Roswell Goddard.

Halfback Tommy Hinderliter broke free for three touchdowns as the Rams evened their season record at 1-1.

Extra duties

Clovis City Commissioner Tom Martin was recently elected director at large during the annual business meeting of the New Mexico Municipal League, according to a city of Clovis news release.

Director at large is a two-year term on the board.
