ENMU women blanked by Adams State

ALAMOSA, Colo. — Adams State’s Hope Cruz scored an unassisted goal with just over three minutes left Tuesday night to give the Grizzlies a 1-0 win over Eastern New Mexico University in women’s soccer.

It was the first win all-time for ASU over the Greyhounds (0-2-1).

Adams State outshot the Greyhounds on goal 5-2. Senior goalkeeper Cristina Escobedo made four saves in net for ENMU, while senior Molly O’Connor had two saves for ASU (2-0-1).

The goal was the third of the season for Cruz, a junior forward, and came on a deflection in front of ENMU the net off an Adams State free kick.

ENMU’s next outing will be on Friday against St. Mary’s at Laredo, Texas. The Hounds will stay in Laredo and play host Texas A&M International on Sunday.

Men’s game called at halftime — The ENMU men played Texas-Permian Basin to a scoreless draw at halftime when inclement weather brought at halt to the proceedings.

Pending possible rescheduling, the game will go down as a no-contest, the ENMU website reported.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to be back in action at 4 p.m. (MDT) on Friday against Wayland Baptist at Plainview, Texas.
