Difference: Down at the half, the Rattlers took the lead for good on a 49-yard run by senior RB Daniel Lopez in the opening minute of the third period.

Difference-makers: Lopez rushed for 239 yards and scored four touchdowns, including a 77-yard punt return. His other scores came on runs of 29 and 62 yards. … Junior RB Mason Golden ran for 74 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes from QB Lance Meyers for 107 yards, including a 72-yard TD pass in the final period.

Crosbyton 21, Farwell 7

Records: Farwell 0-2, Crosbyton 2-0

Difference: The Chiefs jumped on top with a pair of first-quarter touchdowns en route to the victory, both by Elliot Rios.

Difference-makers: Rios scored on runs of 1 yard and 4 yards. Tim Childrens added an 8-yard TD run early in the second stanza. … The Steers spoiled the shutout bid with Patrick Pena caught a 7-yard TD pass with 1 1/2 minutes left in the game.

Sweetwater 36, Muleshoe 14

Records: Muleshoe 1-1, Sweetwater 2-0

Difference: The Mustangs opened a 30-0 halftime lead. Despite the score, the Mules outgained Sweetwater 544-536.

Difference-makers: Senior WR Michael Lawrence caught nine passes for 226 yards and a pair of scores for Sweetwater, while junior RB Jacoby Hunt ran for 224 yards and a score. … Junior WR Jason Florez caught 11 passes for 126 yards and both TDs from senior QB Danny Campos for the Mules. Campos finished 30-54-2-248.

Dora 56, Mescalero 6

Records: Mescalero 1-1, Dora 1-1

Difference: The Coyotes bounced back from a 58-8 loss at defending 8-man state champion Melrose last week, scoring early and often and ending the game on the 50-point lead run in the third quarter.

Difference-makers: Sophomore QB Hayden Skinner scored six of Dora’s eight touchdowns, on runs of 10, 30, 30, 15, 55 and 35 yards. Junior RB Dylan Roberts got the Coyotes’ first score n a 64-yard run, while senior RB Josh Garrett scored on a two-yard run. … For the Chiefs, who beat Jemez Valley 54-34 last week, junior RB Austin Buurma went in from 10 yards out in the second quarter.
