Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Editor's notebook — Aug. 28

Inside today’s paper: Our annual Pigskin Preview edition is here, just in time to kick off the area high school and college football seasons.

Deputy Editor Kevin Wilson coordinated this year’s content, with plenty of help from staff members Matthew Asher, Tony Bullocks, Thomas Garcia, Jacob Sanchez and Dave Wagner.

Scot Stinnett, Dan Ford and the staff at Eastern New Mexico University’s athletics department also contributed.

We hope you like it.

Celebrate good times: Wayland Baptist University in Clovis will be the place for celebration this morning as ceremonies honor 26 graduates.

The gathering, which starts at 10 a.m., also will recognize six men who have completed their Certificate of Christian Ministry program, WBU-Clovis Dean Gary Mitchell said.

“Most of them are pastors who wanted to study more about the Bible and the pastoral ministry,” Mitchell said.

“They completed 18 semesters hours of work, which can be applied to 18 undergraduate hours for the Bachelor of Christian Ministry degree with Wayland.”

These were dedicated folks. “Five of the six drove back and forth from the Roswell area just to be in and complete the program,” Mitchell said.

The fall/late summer graduation will take place at Clovis’ Central Baptist Church.

Congrats to all.
