No problem with keeping chickens

I keep seeing articles in the newspaper regarding Mary-Beth Bouchard keeping her pet chickens.

I am no lawyer, but anyone who can read can see there is no problem.

The ordinance reads “except for the residence or business establishment of a person owning or controlling the poultry.” So what is the problem? She owns and controls the poultry and no one is complaining.

Get off the woman and leave her alone. She is probably doing more good with her poultry than most are with dogs and cats.

People need roundabout lessons

How can the citizens of Clovis be taught or learn how to properly use our roundabout?

Daily, I drive around it and I’m constantly seeing people doing it wrong.

I cannot count the number of near accidents I’ve had on that thing because people are clueless.

And, when that new grocery store opens up right there, it’s going to be absolute disaster.

I have no clue as to how people can be taught the proper way to navigate our roundabout, but I sure wish something could be done.

Shared course would be dangerous

Having played a lot of golf and some disc golf, I have a few thoughts:

• Most 3 par golf courses’ longest holes are 150 to 160 yards.

• Disc golf courses will have holes that are 300 yards or more in length.

• It hurts when you are hit by a disc, like when hit by a golf ball. I have been hit by both.

• Stronger disc golfers can throw their “driver” probably 150 or 160 yards. And, many are pretty wild — like us golfers. So, both have safety issues.

• Contrary to suggestions in Tuesday’s newspaper article, I doubt that people could be playing golf and disc golf together on the same course at the same time. It’s too dangerous.

• If two courses are built, it is my opinion they should be at least 150 yards apart, and at least 150 yards from any other activity.
