Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
The StarGazer’s second event got off to a slower start than its first one held less than a month ago.
The venue opened its gates Saturday afternoon for “An Evening in Margaritaville” with a limited crowd.
Officials speculated that the heat earlier in the day had an impact on attendance but said they had hopes of the crowds increasing as the evening cooled off.
Set up for the bar began Saturday morning for Dawg Houze bartender Josh Enriquez. The Dawg Houze also had its bartenders hole punching wrist bands to monitor the number of drinks event attendees were having.
The Dawg Houze provided access to canned beer, draft beer and margaritas for those in attendance. Complimentary leis, sunglasses and T-shirts were also provided.
Karina Dozal and Alicia Bisconti were pleased to be among the attendees of the second StarGazer event.

“An Evening in Margaritaville” attendees enjoy drinks and conversation during the event Saturday afternoon.
“I think it’s a good idea to have the StarGazer events; anything outside is good,” said Dozal.
Musician Lane Stevens agreed.
“I am very excited (to play). I think that it’s a great thing for this town to have a music venue. There is a lot of talent in this town that people don’t know about. The StarGazer is a great place for local musicians to showcase their talent,” said Stevens.
The StarGazer attracted attendees to Saturday’s event from both Portales and Clovis. Air Force Gunner Troy Larkins was in attendance to show support for his comrade, Air Force Pilot Josh Sullivan, who performed at Saturday’s event.
“I came to support him and his music. I think it’s great to have a place like this to hear live music,” said Larkins.
Stevens encouraged others to let the city know if they support the StarGazer events and would like to see more of them.
“It’s something we’d like to see continue and be consistent in Portales,” he said.
