Long ride ...

• They're billing it as the longest annual charity bicycle ride in the world and it arrives today in Clovis. The 72 bikers, part of the Texas 4000 team, left Austin six days ago and plan to ride as far as Alaska, raising money for cancer research along the way. You can read more at texas4000.org

To honor ...

• Gov. Susana Martinez has ordered flags flown at half-staff today to honor slain Rio Rancho Officer Greg "Nigel" Benner. A Rio Rancho police officer of four years and Air Force veteran, Benner was shot and killed May 25 during a traffic stop. He leaves a wife and six children.

Portales again ...

TLC Plumbing and Utility continues to progress on the pipeline through Portales.

It means 18th Street will be closed to through traffic from N.M. 206 to south Globe for repaving until Friday.
