Traffic alert...

• Portales drivers being warned to avoid Globe and 18th streets next week. There will be repaving in the area to repair damage from installing the city’s re-use water system pipeline. No through traffic from Sunday through May 2.

Town hall...

• If you live in District 4 in Clovis — that’s largely the northwest quadrant — city officials want to hear from you. There’s a town hall meeting 6 p.m. Tuesday at Kingswood Methodist Church. Fresh from Robert’s Rules grad school, Commissioners Chris Bryant and Tom Martin will be on hand with Mayor David Lansford. An intriguing combination, indeed.

Dawg gone...

• There’s still time to register for Saturday’s annual 5K Paint the Prairie Dawg Dash. Proceeds benefit the student-run Clovis Community College Campus Activities Board. Starts 9 a.m. at the college — you can save $5 on entry fees by registering before race day at CCC’s cashiers’ windows.
