District Court Judge David Reeb swore in recently elected members Ken Merritt and Ray Mondragon on Wednesday at the Clovis Community College board meeting.

The board also unanimously approved the Spring 2015 graduation list. Of 315 graduates, there are 121 associate degree earners, 97 certificates of completion and 97 certificates of achievement.

Rowley said the list is of students who are candidates for graduation pending spring semester grades. The board approved them to move through the candidacy process.

The board unanimously approved a recompilation of student employment policies and procedures. The document applies to temporary, part-time student workers at the college and covers various policies including federal and state withholding and non-eligibility for unemployment benefits.

President Becky Rowley also updated the board on the 26th Annual St. Pat's Racquetball tournament. There were 48 players at the tournament, which added $1,600 to the general scholarship fund.

Division Chair of Health and Physical Education Mark Bussen said it is currently the longest running sanctioned tournament in New Mexico.

“In the 26 year history of the tournament — 55 players a year, and over 34,000 dollars into the general scholarship fund,” said Chairman Russell Muffley. “That's pretty amazing for a little racquetball tournament at Clovis Community College.”

“This tournament not only keeps racquetball alive in our community, and I think it's an important sport, it also involves a lot of our students who like to play in the tournament and it generates money for scholarships,” Rowley said. And it really has become an anticipated community event every year.”

Upcoming events at the college include a Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce breakfast at 7 a.m. Friday in the commons area; a Cultural Arts Series Performance of Scrap-Arts-Music at 7 p.m. April 14; a Cultural Arts Series Performance of the Santa Fe Opera at 4 p.m. April 19 at CCC town hall; a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 21 in the commons area; a Campus Activities
