The Clovis Wildcats had little trouble in their opener at the Roswell Tournament Thursday, beating Lovington 7-0 behind a complete game from Landon Williams.
Williams allowed just two hits, both with two outs in the second inning, and didn’t allow a baserunner past first base through the first six innings. He struck out 11, with no walks and a hit batter.
“Landon threw great today,” Clovis coach Richard Cruce said. “He stepped up, did what a senior should do.”
Joseph Ramos went 2-for-3 with a triple, while Jordan Holguin went 2-for-4 with a double.
The Wildcats remain in Roswell, and face Del Norte in a 4 p.m. Friday matchup.
