Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
The Clovis city commission meets 5:15 p.m. Thursday at the North Annex of the Clovis-Carver Public Library.
Agenda items include:
• A request from Faith Christian Family Church to create a custom sign and add xeriscaping to the entrance of Goodwin Lake Walking Trails Park as part of Love Week June 1-6.
• A resolution to “warmly encourage Governor Martinez, the New Mexico Tourism Department and our state legislators” to reopen the New Mexico Visitor Center outside Texico. The center has been closed since September of last year.
• An amendment to the lease for the Lyceum Theater, allowing receipt of $25,000 in capital outlay money.
• A change order to water system improvements at the Clovis Municipal Airport to cover two additional valves. The $17,710 is already budgeted to cover the change order.
• Annual economic development reports from Cummins, Quality Liquid Feeds and Gavilon Grain. Gavilon Grain would also collect the first of five $20,000 payments from the Economic Development Tax Fund. The city commission approved $100,000 to the company last March, provided it met plant upgrade and job retention benchmarks.
• An annual audit report from Southwest Cheese. The company has an average of 366 employees with an average wage of $21.11 per hour.
