This season: The Lady Wildcats beat Hobbs both times during regular-season district play, winning 40-34 at Hobbs on Jan. 27 and 56-38 at The Rock on Feb. 10.
Last time out: The top-seeded Lady Cats beat Carlsbad 36-27 at home in their regular-season finale on Feb. 19. The second-seeded Lady Eagles beat the third-seeded Cavegirls 26-16 in Wednesday’s tournament semifinal game at Hobbs.
Of note: Clovis is on a 10-game winning streak since a 68-59 loss to Roswell High on Jan. 13, ending the team’s 45-game home winning streak dating to February 2011. Since then, the Lady Cats have six in a row at home. … Against seven common opponents, Clovis is 10-1 and Hobbs has gone 11-3. Both have split a pair of games against Roswell High, while the Lady Eagles are 3-1 against Carlsbad and split two games with Las Cruces High. … Senior G Danni Williams scored 16 points in each of the Lady Cats’ two meetings with Hobbs, while senior P Shelby Jones had 10 at Hobbs and 13 here. Senior G Ariel Lopez led the Lady Eagles with 12 points in the first matchup, while freshman G Amaya Lewis had 15 in the rematch. Clovis held the Lady Eagles scoreless for 11 1/2 minutes and without a field goal for nearly 13 minutes at the start in taking control of the second matchup.
