Clovis at Alamogordo

Records: Clovis 4-17 (0-1 district), Alamogordo 8-12 (0-1)

Last meeting: December 2011, the Wildcats beat Alamo 51-35 at The Rock.

Last time out: Both teams lost district openers on Tuesday, the Cats falling at home to Hobbs 88-57 while the Tigers saw a one-point halftime lead dissipate in a 66-38 loss at Carlsbad.

Of note: Both teams have been struggling. The Tigers come in having lost four in a row and nine of 10 after a 7-3 start, while the Cats have dropped their last five games and 12 of 13. … The Tigers are 6-3 at home this season. … Alamo led Carlsbad by a point at halftime, but was outscored 40-11 in the second half. … Senior C Josey Mills paced the Tigers in that one with 12 points. … The teams last met in Alamo in December 2010, a 71-65 Cats victory.

GIRLS

Alamogordo at Clovis

Records: Clovis 19-2 (1-0 district), Alamogordo 13-7 (0-1)

Last meeting: January 2014, the Lady Wildcats blasted Alamo 69-24 at The Rock.

Last time out: The Lady Cats won at Hobbs 40-34 while the Lady Tigers lost at home to Carlsbad 45-36.

Of note: Despite its record, Alamo has clearly hit the meat of its schedule and comes to town on a five-game losing streak. … Clovis had certainly had the Lady Tigers’ number in recent years, winning the last four meetings by a combined score of 259-70. … Carlsbad (12-7) got 13 points each from senior forward Hannah Johns and eighth-grade point guard Carsyn Boswell in Tuesday’s win at Alamo. The Cavegirls went 14-of-20 from the FT line, including 9-of-9 in the final period. … Alamo is 5-1 in true road games, losing only at Mayfield 55-43 on Jan. 13. … Hobbs held the Lady Cats to a season-tying scoring low on Tuesday, matching at 40-39 Lady Cats victory in early December at Canyon, Texas.
