Senators set for session

Staff report

The following are priorities set by eastern New Mexico’s two state senators for the 60-day session of the state Legislature, according to a press release from the state Republican party:

Sen. Stuart Ingle, R-Portales: Ingle represents Chaves, Curry, DeBaca, Lea and Roosevelt counties. His priority is to make certain the Legislature is responsible in basing the state budget on revenue sources that are stable for the upcoming fiscal year.

Sen. Pat Woods, R-Broadview: Woods represents Curry, Quay and Union counties. His priorities include his bill to help employers so they are not unjustly overcharged with workers compensation insurance costs. His bill would define what temporary disabilities are in worker comp cases, so temporary disabilities are not charged as permanent disabilities as they are now.
