Ashley Moran gets ready to start her day of work at the Curry County Administration offices located on Main Street in Clovis.
Ashley Moran was born and raised in central Florida. She is an only child. She graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications with a concentration in public relations. She married her high school sweetheart, who serves in the U.S. Air Force at Cannon Air Force Base.
Moran and her husband moved to Clovis two years ago where she started her current position with Curry County. Moran and her husband have an all white boxer named Brix and are expecting their first child in May.
What is your favorite part of your job?
It sounds so cliché, but it’s the people. I love everyone I work with. We all get along great. Not just the people in the admin office but the people that work at the jail and everyone in the county is great.
What do you not like about your job?
Sometimes we work long hours, but I don’t hate it. Right now, I don’t have children yet, so I don’t have to rush home. My husband travels a lot with his job, so I don’t mind working so much. It works for now.
What do you think of eastern New Mexico?
From a military perspective, there’s a lot of negativity about the area. But the people are really nice here. I think Clovis is what you make of it. It’s hard for people to adjust depending on where they’ve come from because they’ll say there’s nothing to do or nowhere to take their kids. But there are some things out there. I think it’s really the people that make the place.
When you were a kid, what did you think you’d be doing as an adult?
I wanted to be a teacher. My cousins and I played school all the time and argued over who would be the teacher.
What is your theme song?
I don’t really have a theme song, but I have a couple of favorite songs. I love “Fancy” by Reba McEntire and “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. But these aren’t theme songs.
If I could do anything, I would...
Quit my job and just travel; spend time traveling in and out of the United States.
What’s your favorite TV show, past and present?
Not sure. My husband and I did watch “Breaking Bad,” all seasons and I watch so much HGTV it’s not even funny. “House Hunters” is my favorite.
What is your favorite taste?
Chocolate.
What is your favorite smell?
My husband when he smells good.
Tell us how you met your spouse.
We are high school sweethearts. We are from the same town and went to the same high school. I met him in the 10th grade. Once we graduated things got serious and he proposed. He’s my best friend.
What’s your idea of a perfect day?
Spending time with my husband, shopping, having lunch and dinner at some of the best restaurants we don’t have in town … not having to worry about laundry and cleaning or anything and just relaxing.
