Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Staff report
The Portales area spent most of Wednesday bundling up, with temperatures in the mid-20s during the day and low teens at night. The bigger issue, however, remains icy roads.
Temperatures have been in the mid-40s or below since Friday night’s snowfall. While snow has melted some in the daytime, the resulting large puddles and water in the streets has turned to ice at night.
Drivers should proceed with caution when traveling and be careful of black ice, especially on residential roads, which are the last to be cleared of snow, officials said.
