Hold on. It’s not over yet.

And icy blast from the northeast that was expected to push overnight temperatures Tuesday into the single digits continues through much of today, according to the National Weather Service.

Parts of northern New Mexico dipped below zero Tuesday as an Arctic front moved across the state, bringing with it freezing temperatures and dangerous driving conditions.

The freezing drizzle that made driving dangerous across much of the region Tuesday may continue the rest of the week, the National Weather Service predicted.

Officials for the Portales Police Department and the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Department said late Tuesday afternoon they had not receved any calls about vehicle accidents.

The Portales High boys basketball game in Littlefield, Texas, was canceled.

The National Weather Service said the wind chill was 15 degrees below zero in Clayton on Tuesday.

Accuweather was predicting a high of 29 degrees today in the Portales area.

Temperatures are expected to reach the 40s by the weekend, but would drop back to the low 20s each night.
