RICHARDSON, Texas — Texas A&M-Commerce erased a 13-point halftime deficit on Saturday to edge Angelo State 41-40 at San Angelo, Texas, and maintain the lead in the Lone Star Conference.

Senior place-kicker Saul Martinez, who missed his first field goal of the season earlier in the game, nailed a 37-yarder with 2:04 to play to give the Lions (5-1, 4-0 LSC) their first lead since going up 7-0 early. ASU (3-2, 2-2) had a chance to win it in the final seconds, but kicker Peter Marquez missed a field goal wide right.

Quarterback Tyrik Rollison went 26-of-43 passing for 380 yards and two TDs for Commerce, although he was intercepted three times. Richard Cooper made his first career start at running back for the Lions and rushed 21 times for 116 yards and a touchdown.

Meantime, West Texas A&M (4-2, 3-1) moved into second place with a 34-13 drubbing of No. 25 Midwestern State (3-2, 2-2), Tarleton State (2-2, 2-3) broke five school records in an 80-14 rout of Texas A&M-Kingsville (1-5, 0-4) and Eastern New Mexico (4-2, 2-2) rolled up nearly 500 yards of offense in a 62-23 thrashing of McMurry (2-3, 1-3).

WT 34, MSU 13: At Canyon, Texas, the Buffaloes used two goalline stands to turn back the Mustangs and set up a showdown this week at Commerce.

Junior RB Geremy Alridge-Mitchell scored twice and rushed 33 times for a career-best 163 yards for the Buffs, while junior QB Preston Rabb went 18-of-26 for 308 yards and two TDs, both to senior Jeremy Watson.

TSU 80, A&M-K 14: At Stephenville, Texas, the Texans set school marks for points, margin of victory, touchdowns (11), first downs (43) and PATs made and attempted (Blake Barnes went 11-for-11). In addition, the 80 points allowed was the most in the history of Kingsville football.

Junior QB Collin Strahan went 20-for-35 passing for 206 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 19 times for 136 yards and three scores. Nine players had at least one reception for the Texans, who amassed 644 total yards and scored touchdowns on their final nine possessions.
