Interim Roosevelt County Manager Jena Wilbanks on Tuesday said she is resigning due to “moral and ethical” reasons.
Wilbanks did not elaborate on the specifics for her reasons or what she plans to do after she resigns.
Wilbanks said she will be leaving Oct. 13 and will leave a week before the new county manager designate Amber Hamilton is hired as expected today at a special meeting of the Roosevelt County Commissioners.
The commission is expected to offer Hamilton a contract with annual pay of $75,000.
Wilbanks was one of the eight candidates interviewed for the county manager position, which opened with the resignation in July of Charlene Webb.
Webb is now Grant County manager.
Wilbanks was chosen as interim county manager as she was Webb’s assistant for two and half years. Wilbanks has been working as the human resources director since December.
