The whiners should run for president

How I got on one email distribution list of High Plains luminaries is a mysterious honor.

One recent missive was titled “Best description of Obama ever written.”

The email reprinted an essay from Jack Wheeler, “a brilliant man who was the author of Reagan’s strategy to break the back of the Soviet Union with a star wars race … He is a true patriot with a no-nonsense approach to everything. He is also a somewhat well-known mountain climber.”

Perhaps written while in thin air, here is a sampling of the essay:

“The O-man, Barack Hussein Obama, is an eloquently tailored empty suit … He is half-white, which he rejects. The rest of him is mostly Arab, which he hides but is disclosed by his non-African Arabic surname…

“Obama has become the white liberals’ Christ, offering absolution from the Sin of Being White … The absurdity of Hypocrisy Clothed in Human Flesh being their Savior is all the more cause for liberals to worship him…

“Thank heavens that the voting majority of Americans remain Christian and are in no need of a phony savior. He is ridiculous and should not be taken seriously by any thinking American.”

My main issue with the true patriot, besides his eccentric use of capitalization, is his pejorative use of “liberals.”

For me, the term represents supporting equal rights, recognizing nuances of issues, and being smart enough not to call someone having to make incredibly tough decisions an “empty suit.”

A woman, another “liberal” who, no doubt, accidentally joined me on the distribution list, said it best in her reply:

“Not all belong to the same church, have identical origins, nor adhere to the same list of beliefs and standards. I would hope they are good, reasonable people who realize venomously continuing to denigrate a duly elected president is fruitless and solves nothing.

“I’d like to see all the whiners run for office, get elected, and weather the challenges, unscathed, without criticism.

“This adolescent #$%& is getting old.”
