Participants sought for Citizens Police Academy

The Clovis Police Department, Curry County Sheriff’s Office and the New Mexico State Police are seeking participants for the 21st session of the Citizens Police Academy.

According to a CPD public service announcement, the academy aims to give a better understanding of the challenges and hardships police officers endure while on the job.

The academy’s classes include criminal law, investigations, traffic law and crash investigation, drug interdiction and domestic violence.

The announcement said specially trained officers will instruct classes and provide hands-on exercises in crime scene investigations, firearms, and driving.

The 12-week class begins Sept. 2 and will run through Nov. 18.

The deadline for application is Aug. 19.
