Clovis Media Inc. has an old face as its new publisher.
Robert Arrowsmith, 48, has returned to New Mexico to take over publisher duties for the Clovis News Journal, Portales News-Tribune and Quay County Sun.
Arrowsmith, publisher at the Sidney (Montana) Herald since May 2013, previously was circulation director for Clovis Media Inc. He succeeds Mike Jensen, who has returned to Wyoming to manage a group of papers in eastern Wyoming, western Nebraska and northern Arizona.
The Seattle-born Arrowsmith comes back to New Mexico with Veronica, his wife of eight years, and their dogs Wrigley and Raider.
“It was an easy decision to move back when the opening was presented,” Arrowsmith said. “We chose to come back in large part to not just the opportunity in the market, but the excellent staff, and the community as a whole that I enjoyed working with and being a part of the first time two years ago.”
Arrowsmith spent five years as circulation director at the Williston (North Dakota) Herald, with the time including two years in publisher training.
Goals include enhancing the newspapers’ community emphasis, revenue growth and finding niche products to serve the area.
“I am looking forward to the time ahead,” Arrowsmith said, “and the possibilities that present themselves.”
