Hounds sign guard from England

Staff report

PORTALES — Elliot Dadds, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound guard from Southampton, England, has signed a national letter of intent to play men’s basketball next season at Eastern New Mexico University.

Dadds is the first signee for next season by interim coach Stott Carter, who was named to replace Andrew Helton last week.

“Elliot is a very skilled combo guard with great size, and (he’s) an oustanding young man,” Carter said in a release from ENMU.

During the 2012-13 season, he averaged 15.2 points, 8.6 rebounds, 6.3 assists and two teals for his club team in England. Carter said Dadds was recommended by former ENMU player Jimmie Guymon.

“We looked into him a little more and realized Elliot would be a great fit,” Carter said. “We are very excited to have him on board and look forward to next season.”

ENMU, coming off its first winning season in 10 years, is looking to replace nine seniors from last year’s squad.
