It was tough day for Eastern New Mexico University’s baseball and softball teams on Friday.

The Greyhounds saw a late first-game lead slip away and fell to West Texas A&M 6-4 in the opener of a Lone Star Conference baseball twin bill at Greyhound Field. The Buffaloes (15-3, 5-1 LSC) then used a six-run seventh in Game 2 to nail down an 11-3 win over ENMU (11-7, 1-5).

The teams meet in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Sunday.

Meantime, the Zias scored three in the first in the opener, but Midwestern State pounded five home runs to notch an 8-4, 11-3 sweep at Zia Softball Field.

ENMU (7-14, 1-4) and the Mustangs (16-9, 4-1) finish their three-game set at noon today.
