"The Exchange is dedicated to serving the military," said Aileen Rivenburg, who is general manager at the Cannon Air Force Base Exchange.

Rivenburg said that 67 cents of every dollar the Cannon Exchange makes is returned to the base for the purpose improving Morale Wealth and Recreation facilities such as sports fields, swimming pools and child development centers. She said in 2012 Cannon received $408,283 from the Exchange.

"I don't think I could do this job in the civilian sector." Rivenburg said. "I'm supporting troops. They appreciate knowing we go where they go, and I truly believe we are a benefit."

Benefits that the Exchange provides its customers include tax-free products, a rewards program, price matching (no questions asked if the product is under $10), and discounted prices on name brands.

The Exchange also has a program that lets customers order products to the Cannon AFB Exchange as long as it is a product Exchange carries.

"A lot of people think we need another store," Rivenburg said, but we can get an item from another store."

Ret. Pfc. Reyes Gonzales, who made his weekly shopping trip to the exchange on Tuesday, said, "I enjoy it because it's not crowded. They have a lot of stuff, quite a bit more than they used to have. They have good prices on their merchandise and they don't have taxes, and that's nice. My wife loves to come and look at all the clothes."

"It's nice that everything is in one store," said Airman 1st Class Cody Knight, who was buying supplies for his new apartment on Tuesday. "It's not the biggest store, but they have everything I need here. Most of the products are better priced than off base.

Knight said he also likes Just Chillin, which is a mobile vendor that sells snow cones and hot dogs in the Exchange parking lot. As a way of providing more services to the military, the Exchange forms business partnerships with companies such Just Chillin. The Exchange has business partnerships with such companies as Java Loft, Anthony's Pizza, GNC, Styling Salon, Taco Bell, Burger King, Military Clothing Store, Blanca Florist and Subway.

Rivenburg said the Exchange is seeking business partnerships with taxi, tax, mobile wireless and after-market auto detailing companies.

"We're always looking for mobile food vendors," Rivenburg said.

She said business partners must pay a negotiable fee to the Exchange to become a business partner.
