Families crowed into the Drop Zone for the inaugural Cannon Helping Hands celebration April 18 at Cannon Air Force Base.

Cannon Helping Hands is a collaboration of a multitude of base agencies. The agencies worked together to help bring awareness of base programs and products available to military members. Organizations also gathered to help celebrate the Month of the Military Child, Child Abuse Awareness Month, Autism Awareness Month and Child Find, a program that assists parents with early diagnosis of learning disabilities and placement for children into appropriate programs.

"The base has programs to provide for the specific needs of our children," said Laura Serrano, Airman & Family Readiness Center school liaison officer. "We've come together to let military families know what the base has available to them and how we can help our Cannon community members."

More than 100 people attended the event that included games, prizes and free food for all.
