Friday area girls prep basketball - Nov. 30

TEXICO — Texico and Friona advanced to the girls championship game of the Texico Citizens Bank Border Shootout with easy wins Friday.

Texico 59, Logan 39 — Shaylee Anderson scored 17 points and Sarah Daniels and Brianna Reyna added 10 each for Texico, which used a 19-point second quarter to take a 24-22 halftime lead.

Whitney Cordova led Logan with 15 points.

Friona 51, Farwell 32 — Dakotah Hicks scored a game-high 19 points as Friona held its Parmer County rival to 19 points through three quarters.

K'Leigh White led Farwell with 15 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Consolation semifinals

Melrose 47, Texico JV 41 — Melrose jump out to an 18-8 first-quarter lead but couldn't shake the Texico JV until late.

Cara Barnard scored a game-high 25 points for the Lady Buffs while Arianna Meza led the Lady Wolverines with 16.

Floyd 56, Grady 39 — Tabitha Ornelas scored 18 points and Floyd rode a 27-point opening quarter to the win.

Dominique Gomez added 12 points for the Lady Broncos.

Mackenzee Starbuck and Kortney Bone led Grady with eight points each.
