Veteran sends well wishes to relatives

Born in Tucumcari in 1963, retired Senior Master Sgt. Dave Aragon spent most of his early years as a Clovis resident, attending Lincoln Jackson Elementary School, Marshall Junior High School, then Clovis High School, graduating with the Class of 1982.

Dave enlisted and entered the active duty Air Force on Jan. 10, 1983, with assignments in Spain, Hawaii, California, Georgia, and Utah. After serving 28 years and 20 days of honorable active service in defense of his country and the U.S. Air Force, Senior Master Sgt. Aragon retired on Feb. 1, 2011. Most of his service was as an Air Force recruiter for enlisted, office and healthcare programs.

While stationed at Torrejon Air Base, Spain, Sgt. Aragon met and married the former Digna Emerita Portillo-Perez, in Madrid, Spain. They have two children, David Giovanni and Estella Leila, with his son choosing to follow in his father's footsteps by also enlisting in the Air Force in March 2011.

David and his family recently visited relatives in Clovis and Texas. Most of his family currently reside in or around Clovis and Texas. Beloved mother Estella Marie Aragon (deceased), siblings Patsy and Paul Maes, Veva and Chacho Ortiz, Bill and Mary Aragon, Jimmy and Caroline Aragon, Eddie Aragon (deceased), Georgia Munoz, Johnny Aragon (deceased), Michael Aragon, Libra and Francisco Armendariz, and many nieces and nephews.

Dave and his family currently reside near Salt Lake City, Utah, and will soon begin a second new career with Veterans Affairs, as a national healthcare recruiter in Las Vegas. Nev.
