Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
• Name: Airman 1st Class Mark Kieweg
• Hometown: Park Falls, Wis.
• Air Force career field: Vehicle operations
• Squadron: 27th Special Operations Logistics Readiness Squadron
• Accomplishments: Kieweg works in vehicle operations and has been stationed at Cannon Air Force Base since 2009. In 2010 he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, transporting mission critical cargo for deploying and redeploying coalition forces. He supported transportation of 482,700 tons of cargo and traveled 2.5 million miles over some of the world’s deadliest roads in 14 convoy missions, earning the Combat Driver’s Badge.
He has provided vehicle support for major wing events and was recognized by Lt. Gen. Wurster, Air Force Special Operations Command commander, for outstanding service and his accomplishments while deployed.
Kieweg also drove Santa and his sleigh on base for this year’s holiday parade and volunteered for Clovis Cleanup, picking up trash and supporting community beautification. Perhaps most importantly, he saved three lives in a vehicle rollover accident by checking victims’ vitals and making sure they remained conscious and breathing until an ambulance arrived.
