Press release: Poku, Stevens earn honorable mention D2Football.com All-American

PORTALES, N.M. — Seniors Jessie Poku (WR, Murphy, Richardson HS) and Tillman Stevens (DB, Baytown, Texas/Sterling HS) from the Eastern New Mexico University football team have been selected Honorable Mention D2Football.com All-American, for their outstanding play during the 2010 season. The award marks the fifth All-American honors for the Greyhounds this season and the ninth in the past two seasons.

For Stevens, it was the third All-America award this offseason, as he was chosen to the Daktronics First Team and Associated Press Second Team Little All-American. He led the Lone Star Conference and finished tied for seventh in the nation, with 11.1 tackles per game. Stevens also tied for the conference lead and 11th in the country with six interceptions, including one, which he returned 62 yards for a score against Central Oklahoma.

Poku, a three-time All-Lone Star Conference performer, shattered nearly every Greyhound receiving record and finished 11th in the country and first in the LSC North, with 7.8 receptions per game during his senior season. Poku set career-highs, with 86 receptions for 932 yards and 11 touchdowns.
