Dec. 5 — Police blotter

Samplings of recent calls to Portales-area law enforcement, according to police records:

Tuesday

• About 8:20 a.m., an officer was called to Portales Junior High School in reference to a fight.

When he arrived, an administrator told him two 12-year-old girls were in a fight at the beginning of school.

The administrator told him one girl “popped off” to the other girl, who pushed her. The first girl pushed back and tried to leave, but the second girl grabbed her hair and they began to fight, the administrator said.

A teacher broke up the fight immediately. The fight was over the second girl spreading a rumor that the first girl had kissed a boy.

The administrator suspended both girls, and the officer took them to Portales Police Department. A juvenile probation officer instructed the officer to release the girls to their parents and forward the report to his office.
