Press Release: New Mexico to receive over $9 million in homeland security grants

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) today announced nine million in Homeland Security grant awards to cities and counties throughout the state.

“We are pleased to help New Mexico’s communities enhance their law enforcement, fire, and emergency management agencies as they continue to protect the state and its citizens “said Cabinet Secretary John W. Wheeler.

Grant funds are used to assist local governments in planning, training and disaster exercises for natural disasters or acts of terrorism.

The State Homeland Security Grant Program totals $9,397,399.96 for FY2010,including funding for other programs such as Citizen Corps and Operation StoneGarden for
