Zias win on shutout

WEATHERFORD, Okla. — Junior midfielder Danielle Thurman scored in the first 18 seconds and the Eastern New Mexico University women’s soccer team posted a 2-0 Lone Star Conference soccer win on Friday.

Junior goalkeeper Sierra Cardenas added to her school record with her ninth shutout, making five saves in goal.

Thurman’s goal came off a pass from senior defender Christie Nylaan, and was the earlier goal in Zias history. Freshman midfielder Gerilyn Armijo added the other goal early in the second half off an assist from sophomore forward Brook Serrano.

ENMU ends its season on Sunday at Central Oklahoma.
