During the winter months, the Cannon Community Center doesn’t have much in terms of family activities, according to center manager Paul Hopkins.

The center decided to change that this year with a Fall Harvest Festival at Doc Stewart Park on Oct. 16.

“We won’t have another event until April,” Hopkins said. “It’s the last big event of the year.”

Activities at the festival included a pumpkin pie eating

contest, a pumpkin carving contest, a pumpkin toss, a

pumpkin rolling obstacle course and a hay ride.

“We just want to have an event that everybody comes to in the winter months,” Hopkins said.
