Airmen welcomed home from deployment

Snacks were set on a table, the weather was nice and family members waited anxiously for their loved ones to depart the plane that had just landed, carrying with it a number of Cannon commandos home from their deployment.

The Southwest Airlines plane rolled to a stop and the airmen began reuniting with their loved ones who they hadn’t seen for months.

“He’s been gone a long time,” said Senior Airman Whitney Davis, 27th Special Operations Aerospace Medicine Squadron, whose boyfriend Senior Airman Jonathan Rogers was one of the airmen returning to Cannon.

“I miss spending time with him and going out with him,” Davis added.

“I’m glad to be home,” said Capt. Jason Ward, 16th Special Operations Squadron.

Marcy Robertson, wife of Capt. Frederick Robertson, 16 SOS, said, “even though they’re gone a lot you get used to it. I’m extremely proud of what he does and it’s always special when they do a homecoming.

Other airmen returned home to eagerly look forward to new arrivals in their family such as Staff Sgt. John Mahan, 27th Special Operations Equipment Maintenance Squadron.

“I’m happy to be back. I got a newborn baby on the way and I’m glad that I get to start right with my family,” said Mahan.

All airmen returned safely to their friends and families after going through the redeployment line that awaited them to expedite their return to normal duty.
