The man said another 53-year-old man hired him to work on a house in the area of the 1300 block of North Avenue M Place. While he was drinking beer and working, he said, the two got into an argument. The man said his employer punched him.

The officer observed the complainant had a cut above his left eye, two false teeth knocked out and broken glasses. The injured man said when his employer started hitting him, he ran to his vehicle and drove away.

The officer asked the suspect to come to the police department for an interview. The suspect said he was intoxicated and would come the next day.

The following day, the suspect came to the police department. He told the officer he and the other man were drinking together and got into a verbal argument. He said he hit the other man in the face twice because the other man wouldn’t stop saying bad things.

A Portales police officer met with a 25-year-old Dallas man about 3:20 a.m. at a gas station on Spruce Street for a report of a possible robbery that happened approximately 30 minutes before.

The Dallas man said he was working in Clovis and had come to Portales with friends to see a band play at a local bar. He said he met a woman 20 to 25 years old who he knew only by first name.

The man said he decided to leave with the woman and his friends went back to Clovis. He and the woman drove around together in her car until she said she needed gas and pulled into the gas station.

The man got out of the car, and the woman said she wanted to pay for the gas. The man said he started to protest and a red car pulled up behind the woman’s. Two men about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 175 to 200 pounds each left the car and rushed toward him.

The Dallas man said one of the other men held him while the other took a $50 bill out of the Dallas man’s right front pocket. The suspects ran back to their vehicle.

The Dallas man said he was intoxicated.

Officers searched the area for the suspects and their vehicles but didn’t find them. The case was classified as larceny.

A Portales police officer was patrolling South Avenue I approaching Third Street about 1:15 a.m. when he noticed a brown Chevrolet Malibu parked on the street. A 19-year-old Fort Sumner man entered the car and a bottle of water was thrown out the window.

The officer pulled up behind the Malibu, turned on the emergency lights and spoke to the 19-year-old, who was in the middle rear seat. The man told the officer, “I’m drunk.”

The officer observed a bottle of Vodka and two 12-ounce bottle of Coors Light on the floor board. One bottle of beer was open.

An 18-year-old Roosevelt County woman and a 20-year-old Roosevelt County man were also in the rear seat of the car. They said they’d consumed alcohol from the house where they had been.
