ADA, Okla. — Junior middle blockers Jessica King and Kristen Beck each had two kills in a match-ending 7-1 run in the fifth game and Eastern New Mexico University pulled out a 22-25, 25-20, 25-18, 24-26, 15-12 Lone Star Conference volleyball win over East Central Thursday night.
It marked for the first LSC road win for the Zias (11-10, 2-3 LSC) since a five-set victory at Angelo State on Oct. 8, 2005, and the first time ENMU has won back-to-back matches against conference opponents since beating Texas Woman’s and Southwestern Oklahoma in an LSC crossover at Abilene, Texas, on Sept. 16, 2005.
Sophomore outside hitter Amber Durand led four Zias in double figures in kills with 19. King contributed seven block assists, sophomore Megan Carpenter had four blocks (two solos) and sophomore Dallas Russell collected 16 digs.
Noelle Cope led East Central (3-19, 1-6) with 14 kills.
The Zias, who have won three in a row overall, play LSC foe Southeastern Oklahoma at 1 p.m. (MDT) on Saturday at Durand, Okla.
